spring playlists

July 02, 2017

My seasonal playlists are everything to me. They are pretty much the only thing I listen to, so finding new music and having a playlist that is me is so important. My music taste can be described as eclectic, (sorry, I really love that word) I listen to just about everything. My playlists bounce between rap, to folk, to musical theater, to pop, to chill, and to throwbacks and back in a way that can be utterly confusing sometimes. This is why I've finally found it necessary to split my seasonal playlists in half: the hype and the chill. My general mood, emotional pulse tends to fluctuate with the season’s, so understandably, my ‘hype’ playlist is quite a bit longer than my ‘chill’ one.
Favorite ‘hype’ song: Make Daddy Proud - Blackbear

Favorite ‘chill’ song: Die Young - Sylvan Esso

autumn

september playlist

October 10, 2016

Every month there are a select group of tunes that get me through the time. September was my first real autumn month and for me, autumn is a season of nostalgia. Without realizing it, I create small traditions for myself from fall to fall, a lot of which are reflected in my fall playlist. Lorde’s 'Pure Heroine' was an album I picked up right when it came out and haven’t put down since. Thats 4 autumns. Some favorites I returned to as well were Bank’s ‘Goddess' album and ‘Multiply’ or ‘X’ by Ed Sheeran. New additions to my library were Frank Oceans ‘Blonde’, Bastille’s ‘Wild World’ and some Jon Bellion. These songs kept me running through the month of September, and hopefully you will enjoy them as well for the rest of the autumn season.

the getting to it list

January 13, 2016

In the same way that some people put off tasks, and goals, (including myself) I put off listening to new music. I get so comfortable listening to my select golden, set of songs and realize I end up never venturing quite far from those few. Making myself completely oblivious to any new songs I could end up liking. This happens to me a lot with new albums by old favorites, recommended songs from friends, people I’ve heard a lot of buzz about, and many other times. So, I think this will be the first edition of my “Getting to It” playlist. These songs are very diverse in their natures and recommendations to add would be greatly appreciated. Some notable favorites on this list include, "Monsters" and "Candles" by Thelma Plum, "You're the One that I Want" by Lo-Fang, "22" "Book of Love" and "Coming Home by Gavin James, and a few delightful songs that will become lifetime favorites, "Love is a Losing Game" and "Valerie" by the legend, Amy Winehouse.

Holiday Caroling

December 11, 2015

Hello,

Today, I woke up to an 8 a.m Saturday morning alarm, and a world rendered semi out of focus by a sheet of fog. But, neither could I be mad about, it was the good mood kind of day. As a part of choir tradition, and winter spirit, today was Caroling Tag day. This was something that I actually quite dreaded (because of the possibility of bad weather and the time that went into it) that slowly transitioned into something I was extremely excited for in the past few months. We got to sing for people, make them smile, and smile with them which made the cold and walking lightyears greater than worth it. We talked to the most lovely people, who were so kind and receptive towards us which was extremely heartwarming making this day will definitely be one of the high school experiences I will love to remember in the future. One of the people we met that I will definitely remember were a couple, Rosemary and Dan, who we had a lovely conversation with, and talked to us about the beauty of paying it forward while saddling our pockets with lifesavers, which we in turn shared with the following houses. Although, I am not Christian, caroling today was one of the days I got to see the kindness of people and spread kindness myself which was a very inspiring thing to me. Have a happy holidays to whatever you celebrate and an Eid Mubarack to all the other Muslims who celebrated Eid a little while back.

Its finally the time of the year for my fall chill playlist. Just like I mentioned in my last fall playlist always strikes me as the time of the year for all the relaxing cozy things. Warm drinks, thick clothes, the whole shebang.  In the past few weeks I’ve been able to find a few songs that get me in the mood, so here’s my sharing them with you.

Moody Summer

August 03, 2015

As the seasons change the music I listen to changes, which brings me to my Summer playlist. I did quite a bit this summer and these songs are the ones I've played through it all. With blues-ey feelings from Hozier's Jackie & Wilson and Work Song to Sassy Diva vibes from Jessie J's Mamma Knows Best and happy feel good anthems like Hold my Hand by Jess Glynne and Anyway by Tori Kelly this playlist will fit a bevy of assorted emotions. Hope you enjoy this lineup as much as I do.

Music Monday

June 29, 2015

Hello!

To sell things short Alessia Cara is amazing. From when she started on youtube with her insane bedroom covers, to her first single, she has always been amazing and I can’t help but feel proud of her getting the recognition that she so well deserves. Her sound is amazing and I adore her so here is Alessia Cara.

Honesty I'd rather be somewhere with my people, we can kick it and just listen to some music with a message, and we'll discuss our big dreams, how we plan, to take over the planet.

Hello Darlings,

This Music Monday is a remix on a hit of early 2014 that I thought really gives a different take and feeling to the words that give me shivers every single single time. I really love it and I hope you do too.

Hello darlings,
This is Layla, a British artist that I am obsessed with recently. She is so hardworking, writing, and producing her own songs and so many of them are so amazing so I thought I would like to share my favorite two by her and hopefully you fall in love with her like I have.

Chill Playlists

September 12, 2014

Hello Darlings,

Fall is coming!!

I actually think fall is becoming my favorite season now with all the amazing fashion, and food, and weather, and scenery and of course music. Fall just seems to have just a nice chill over all the other seasons that just makes me extremely happy and nice so I made a playlist with all of the slow/semi slow chill fall-ish songs that I love for now. Any commented suggestions would be nice because I am always looking for more, music and people that share my music taste.

Thank you for reading. Be Free. Be You. Mary☂

Music Making

September 10, 2014

Wow after an approximate eternity of wanting, and being  afraid, and not having at  least adequate equipment, I have finally done it.

 I made a cover.

FINALLY.

I have been trying for just about ever but honestly I am way too Type A to get anything done. I literally critique everything and re-record and am just unhappy with how it turns out but I finally kind of got over it and made it. It has a few mistakes in the guitar part and some recording errors and whatever but I just love it and am in love with it and can't wait to make more. I made a medley of Sweater Weather by the Neighborhood which is a great song by a great band that I embarrasingly listen to year-round instead of just in the fall like everyone else did, and of Not in That Way by Sam Smith, another amazing song by another amazing artist who I happen to be in love with personality wise and his song writing and just angel like voice.
